About me...
My name is Alison Stafford and I am an artist, animal lover and professional artist. Whilst I have always admired and appreciated a photographic style of painting, it isn’t something that, for me, captures the spirit and character of an animal. From the colours that I choose to the marks that I make, I always paint from the heart. I will always try to get under the skin of each subject that I paint so the information that pet owners give me about their pets is crucial in order to enable me to have a vision of the type of painting that I create. Having come from a fashion background I have a passion for colour and pattern and bring this passion into my paintings. If you have any specific features that you would like included in your painting (e.g. colours, fabrics, wallpaper, dog tag, collar) please let me know and I will try to bring it into your painting, making it even more personal to you. |
'Pawsome Paintings' was born during lockdown due to the outbreak of Covid-19. Having taken up the self imposed challenge of painting a pet portrait from photographs every day through April it soon became apparent that although I have been painting pets for commission for many years, that particular side of my art business needed it’s own unique voice and so ‘Pawsome Paintings’ was created.
About me....I am a professional artist and animal lover and have been an active member of the Association of Animal Artists for 6 years and also Chairperson for 3 years so I learnt to appreciate all types of animal art.
However, the art that I enjoy making has a more contemporary feel, through my use of colour and occasionally pattern. I aim to capture the spirit and personality of every animal that I paint through the use of thoughtful mark making and, although I work directly from the photographs that are sent to me, I hope that my style would never be described as photographic!
All paintings are created using professional artist materials and are delivered ready to hang with a certificate of authenticity.
I welcome commissions and enquiries and can be reached via facebook messenger or email:-

Past projects...
I spent every day of April completing a painting every day from photos supplied by the public. You can see all paintings HERE or check out the time-lapse videos on my YouTube channel. As a professional artist, having all your exhibitions, art events, that you had worked towards all year, pulled from under your feet it is hard to then pick yourself up and see the point in creating any more art.
I have stacks of paintings all packed up and ready to go to exhibition that will now not happen. It was with that sense of defeat that I knew that I had to give myself something to keep a positive frame of mind, and painting really is my happy place. To be able to give that happiness to someone else in the form of a pet portrait gave me a real sense of purpose, and motivated me throughout April to bring 30 paintings to 30 people...these are the paintings.... To enquire about commissions please contact me. I am always happy to discuss your ideas. |
